Back to Basics: Beginner’s Yoga Series
Jan. 17 and 24 from 10 to 11:30 am
Baker Street Yoga in Maplewood, New Jersey
Beginning a yoga practice is a daunting goal. Modern yoga classes are fast-paced, and first-timers often feel left behind when the poses are too difficult.
We hope to show you that anyone can enjoy yoga regardless of their age, size or fitness level. In this two-part Yoga for Beginners series, our teacher Michael will introduce you to a variety of yoga postures and explain how to personally tailor each one to meet your needs. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or curious novice, join us to:
- practice more than 20 fundamental yoga poses.
- learn basic alignment, mindfulness and meditation techniques to keep you safe.
- build confidence to practice yoga at home or in a yoga studio, by yourself or in a group yoga class.
- meet a small healing community of like-minded people.
We’ll offer this workshop online and in person. We limit in-studio sessions to just four people, so click here to reserve your spot today!
Registered students will have access to all recordings for 30 days.
Posture Clinic
Feb. 6 and 7 from 2 to 8 pm
Livestreamed on Zoom with The Yoga Ground
The alignment of a yoga pose is both a science and mythology. When you align your body well, your posture will feel more stable and at ease. But, that yoga poses are one-cue-fits-all shapes is a myth not grounded in anatomical reality.
Join Michael Simpson for an immersive weekend workshop, in which he’ll resolve some common misconceptions about how the body moves, breathes and relaxes. With plenty of yoga, pranayama and meditation practices and a few anatomy discussions to hone your technique, students and teachers of all levels will find this experience enriching.
